I never will forget the catch.
It carried me through thick and thin.
what’s more the words that He’d attach
“soon I’ll make you fisher of men.”
.
I didn’t get the catch at first—
years later as I learned to fail,
thrice I denied Him, my heart burst—
He’s teaching me through all detail.
.
How many times now have I tried,
exhausted, anxious, failed to heed:
“just cast off on the other side.”
Obedience I’m sloth to read:
.
The catch: He said “Tu es Pierre,”
and pressure of five thousand years,
fell on my soul, can’t breathe the air,
for drowning in a sea of fears.
.
I’ll need convince them, what I heard:
I’m captain of this troop unshod.
Hook Jew and Gentile with His Word
not just Messiah, He is God.
.
I cast the Net: Heaven and Hell.
The Catch: in very Flesh was bought;
no servant can Master excell;
He’s leading me where I wish not.
.
He hooked me with a noble flock,
rope-scinding weight beyond my might,
the catch, to know: “He called me Rock,
His Yoke’s easy, His Burden light.”
.
All will occur just as He said.
His Word is a two edge-d sword.
You'll hate it live, and love it dead,
and rise with eyes on Christ the Lord.
.
We couldn’t lift them all aboard.
“It’s Him!” I cried and swam to greet
“You know I love, I love you Lord!
I love the catch now!”— “Feed my sheep.”
.
I never will forget the catch.
mein A und O. His Word can’t fail:
—fiend sought to sift me, met his match—
“The powers of hell shall not prevail.”
